Four years ago married life had settled down, church/God still not really important to me.  Things were changing though….slowly, but surely.

Three years ago I was baptized at Maryland Community Church.  Afterward, I baptized Ria.  Things were definitely coming together.  I was surrounded by good people, going to church in a place that I loved.  Life had never been better.

Two years ago Ria enlists in the Army and her first duty station is Kaiserslautern Germany.  Crushed that I’m just getting things straight where I want to be (MCC) only to be thrown into a foreign country to try and find a church.  It wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.  I got involved at Faith Baptist, and although it couldn’t be much more different from what I was used to back home, I felt God placed us there for a reason.  And here we are.

One year ago I’m singing, playing guitar, running some sound, still working for the school at the church.  Things are breezing by.  Elijah is born….that throws a wrench into things….I start asking questions about having a concert at the church.  Ya know, just a night where we get together and sing praises to the God who pulled me from the pits.  The idea was quickly shot down as I was basically told not to even bother asking.  So, I didn’t.

Well, tomorrow night the first Created To Praise worship concert will take place at Faith Baptist Church.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought, 5 years ago, that I would be singing and playing guitar for a church at a concert.  I guarantee you the thought NEVER even crossed my mind.

I’m completely in awe at how God has worked in my life and in the lives of those close to me.

When I was told not to ask, God said “who are you going to listen to?”  It took awhile, but I finally listened to Him.  I asked and without hesitation, got a YES.  No strict oversight like I had anticipated, no warnings, nothing but “can’t wait to see and hear it.”

Needless to say, I’m pretty amped.  Can’t wait to hit the stage and yet, at the same time, don’t want it to come knowing it will end all too soon and how many opportunities does a guy like me get to do this kind of thing?

Not committing to doing this every week, but this is my version this week.

Yesterday was one of those Sundays where I could feel God smiling.  One of those Sundays where the style of music was unimportant to me because the blend sounded so good.  I’m beginning to embrace this harmony role .  That is new cuz that hasn’t been the case AT ALL in the past .  I love being part of these Sundays!

Yesterday I said that was my favorite…..This one just gave me chills and I’ve watched it 10 times….not to mention, I was one of em singing it….So, I changed my mind….THIS is now my favorite….I think.
