Really Tired of Posts Like These

I’ve been thinking about doing this for a long time, but I have to be honest and tell ya that shame played a lot into NOT doing it.  Just as the title says, I get tired of posts like this, but I also know it has worked in the past and I’m hoping it will help again.

So, what in the heck am I typing about?

It’s time to lose weight!

No, it’s not time for a diet; diets are temporary It’s time for a life style change.

It seems like I have written this post a thousand times……lost 20 pounds or so…..stopped doing the posts……gained 20 pounds or so…..yeah, it’s depressing.

I can’t lie to ya….I don’t go into this with my head held high or with an optimistic outlook.  I’ve done this, pretty much, since I was 13-14 years old.  Diet after diet and plan after plan.  Trust me in that I know HOW to lose weight.  I could probably write a diet book cuz I’ve been on them all and I can tell ya what works and what doesn’t.  But in my opinion, there is no book that can tell you how to KEEP the weight off.

The bottom line is I have to change habits.  The first habit I will change is by setting a goal.  I’M NOT GONNA DO IT. All goals do for me is set a “you can now relax” point.  I bust my butt to get to that “goal” and then I’m done…..and the weight all comes back because I fall into the same eating habits I’ve had for 36 years.  Except usually more comes back than what I lost because depression sets in and I get in the “ahhh forget it” mode and eat myself silly.

So, there are no goals.  There will be weigh ins.  Part of what has made this work in the past is the accountability I get through this site.  I’m not gonna say this is it and this time I won’t stop.  I know myself too well to make promises.  I will, though, give it my best.

One thing I’ll keep the same is if you find yourself in a similar situation and would like to come here to share and compare ideas and support, I welcome you.

Thanks for coming along!

Here’s where I start: About the same weight I started at last time….let’s pray this is the last time I have to type the words “last time.”

Hey, on a side note, friend and fellow blogger, Bill Grandi is having surgery on his neck today. I’m sure he would appreciate your prayers for quick healing and recovery.
Thanks!

Blessings on this! I know how hard it is! Why is it easier and faster going off than going on??? (snort!) LOL

For the record, thinking of you "snorting" made me snort….LOL
I just LOVE to eat and the key for me is to not have 'fatty' foods in the house for me to get to. I can tell myself "I'm buying them for the kids," but they never seem to get any :-) .
      Thanks Cindi!

Did Willy reply to you about those songs you sent?

  • CIndi

Ooppss! I meant to say……Why is it easier and faster getting on rather than getting off?? (snort! snort!) I was too into listening and singing "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever" while typing the first comment! Blessings!

I had to read this on the morning I am not allowed to even take a sip of water. :) Praying for you in this. pray for you every day my friend and will include this with the "mr. mom" and smoking one you asked us to do for you. You can do this. As for me: thanks for the shout out and the prayer out.

Appreciate all of the prayers Bill! They go up for you every day as well. Praying your surgery isn't much of a pain in the neck :D . Yeah, lame attempt at humor for a not so funny subject.

Prayers for Bill's surgery, that it is successful and for a quick recovery. I do indeed feel the same way, and I like that you are not setting goals. I just want to feel better, I'm sick and tired of having to take a breath just to tie my shoes. I will post my starting weight tomorrow. That makes for a great blog title, "Wednesday Weigh In"

    • http://intensedebate.com/people/Pastor_T Pastor_T

yeah, Wednesday weigh in works well. That's another one of my non rules this time…..that I won't set a weigh in day. It may happen on the same day every week, but probably not….I'm trying to be a rebel…HA! Rebelling against FAT!

Glad to have ya along for the ride! I'll pray it's a successful journey for us both!

Shane and I are the same path, NO DIETS just FOODSTYLE and exercise changes (fork down, fork up, fork in NO LONGER count :-0),,,If I can't read the label then I probably don't need to consume it is our NEW motto :-) We weighed tonight and Shane is 231 and I am 167…Same as you we have no GOAL WEIGHT, our GOAL is to glorify our Father and care for these TEMPORARY earth suits He gave us :-) Lifting you up and I could give you the whole run down on what we are doing if you are interested BUT I won't BOG up your BLOG w/it lol…

I think I've read some of what you guys are doing. While I'd love to say "YEAH, tell me all about it," I know me well enough not to make ya do all that…LOL We actually don't eat too much bad stuff at home. It's just WHEN I eat it (11pm-2am) that's a problem. Plus, the Popeyes, Burger King and food court need to GO.

If I could get down to where Shane is starting, I'd be ecstatic! The posts will be titled "Life Change"….Keep us updated and I'll do the same :-) .
Prayers going up for you two as well!
      Thanks Brandi!

Okay, I'm in with you guys. I've lost about 20 lbs already & would like to lose 20 more by June and 20 more by Nov. I doubt it will happen, but it'd be fun to do this with ya.

Good to have ya along Sarah!

Thanks Brian for the prayers. Surgery went well. Started at 10 and i was home by 1:30. Hunkered down at home for the rest of the day and then went to the office for the morning. Doc said I could! Wish I knew all of you to pray for you. My wife has weight issues but I have not since I have always been very active and ride a bike (hence the need for the neck surgery for when the dog took me down last July). I know the struggle she has had and at 59 it is even harder. Do it while you all are younger. I like the Lifestyle change idea rather than diet. It is, as Brandi said, fork up, fork down, fork no more. I wish all of you the best but do it for Him and His glory and then it will be for you as well.

My wife says, "Toby he's just like you…has surgery and grabs the computer." LOL She says the first thing I'll do when I get to Heaven is check my email :-) .
Good to hear you're doing good Bill!! We will pray you continue to heal quickly.
Thanks for your prayers. Not sure these words can express how much I appreciate it!
