He asked me if I “could” be president. I said “sure”….I’m old enough, was born in the US, etc. So, he asks why don’t I run, cuz, well, he’d vote for me. I told him that probably wasn’t going to happen because I just don’t know enough “stuff”. He goes on to tell me that Bill Clinton didn’t know EVERYTHING and George Bush didn’t know much at all (not sure where he got that..LOL) and that Obama probably didn’t know it all either. I said, well, I know some stuff, but not the right stuff. Well, this went on for a bit and then Gabriel started dreaming…..
He talked about all of the things we could have if I were president….
- Someone to clean his room.
- Someone to cook for us
- LOTS of video games
- Maybe a toy or two for Chaya and Elijah
- We’d have a bowling alley in our house
- Ummm did I mention someone to clean his room?
He talked about the places we could go and the things we could see and the MILLIONS of dollars we would have. I mentioned that there would inevitably be people who wanted to hurt me and he comforted me by telling me I would have lots and lots of bodyguards WITH GUNS! Well then, I don’t have much to worry about then.
He went on for 10 minutes about what he could have….The boy has a vivid imagination!
Then, he started to stutter…..his eyes got great big….I could tell he had thought of something he could have that was obviously blowing his mind and he couldn’t get the words out.
I said, “WHAT?!” ”Are ya gonna be ok?” He stood up….regained his composure….Then came the line of all lines that I laughed at for a good 5 minutes….
Ya ready?
He said, with a look on his face like he had just won the lottery….
“Daddy (he never calls me Daddy)…..We….ummm….we could….WE COULD GO TO WALMART EVERY STINKIN DAY!”
There ya have it….priorities of a 7 year old.
