Could be a little quiet around here for a few. Classes winding down, Christmas and 5 family members coming to Germany for a week will have me a bit busy
. If I don’t get a chance to tell ya, Merry Christmas!! May you all discover or rediscover what this holiday season is all about!
Now then…..I won’t speak of parenthood today, but what I call Dad-hood. It’s a dangerous job, but someone has to do it. There’s a few things I have discovered in the past couple of years…..especially since Elijah was born..….
- It would be much easier to pee sitting down while holding Eli, but my pride won’t let me.
- There comes a point when the white spots all over my black shirt from spit up goes unnoticed by sight and the shirt only gets changed when the smell is too much to take.
- Poopy diapers suck! Nuff said!
- I used to be one that laughed and pointed at kids who HAD to be held. I’d say to myself “maybe, just maybe, they should put the kid down and let him scream a bit.” Well, I’M SORRY! I would much rather hold his lil behind all day then listen to that crap!
- I’m pretty sure the habit of talking “baby-talk” will be a tougher habit to break then the not smoking.
- Speaking of baby talk—-People stare at me like I’m from Mars when I talk to Eli! Listen people….When I talk to him in my regular voice, it scares him….DEAL WITH IT!
- Children should only be allowed to cut teeth when Mom is home!
- If Ria should ever get deployed, I will be flying home to my Mommy! You can laugh at the rest of these, but I’m DEAD serious about this one!
- If Ria should happen to get an extended TDY, I’m going home! Not joking there either!
- I have never looked forward to 5pm so much EVER in my life.
It’s not all so bad…..The above statements were meant to make ya laugh….I’m a pretty light-hearted kinda guy. The life I live isn’t the easiest and I CAN think of other things I’d rather do, but I trust that God is in control and He must want me here. That won’t stop me from complaining about it, but I’m only human and I’m quite certain I was not meant for taking care of a baby. God be with the little dude….I hope I don’t ruin him
. He’ll walk, talk and change his own diapers soon, so I’m all good! LOL Kidding about changing his own diapers….Some of you might remember I potty trained Chaya….I look forward to shootin cheerios with Eli
.
Ok, I’ve let him scream long enough while I typed this…..(yeah, that’s not a joke either
).
Again, Merry Christmas!
