Ok, so many things…..First, about Chaya: She’s doing better and looking better. I’ll leave some pics below taken from my phone, but notice the swelling on her eye and side of her head….As the pics go on, you’ll see her eye a little more purple, but more open also. I haven’t had a shiner in a long time, but I do remember the healing process being that it would get darker in color. The swelling on the side of her head is not changing much….which is why she’s spending another night in ICU. All signs point to her getting moved out of ICU tomorrow, but they said that about today too.
Earlier today she tried to eat some mashed potatoes and threw them up. Since then, they would only let her have watered down OJ and some toast….don’t get me wrong….that’s understandable. I have had ups and downs all day, partly due to the mixed messages we’re getting from doctors. That’s probably because we’re in GERMANY in a GERMAN hospital where no one speaks ENGLISH! Very frustrating to listen to them talk amongst themselves and then walk out of the room without saying anything to me. I try to remain calm and not throw them out the window so they may feel a bit of what Chaya does
. Also, the chief of the hospital came by today and told us she would be there at least 5 days. Now, whether that’s 5 from today or from when she came in, I have no idea….couldn’t get him to understand that question.
So, bottom line….We’re not out of the woods yet, but we can see daylight. Chaya’s biggest problem is boredom and wanting to see her brothers. When she gets moved, Gabe can come up.
So, about Gabriel. I ask for your prayers for him, for me, for Ria. What I’m about to type, I will probably never say to Gabriel, but it has us wondering what actually happened the other day. I was sitting with Chaya and out of the blue, she said, “Daddy, Gabe didn’t mean to do it.” Now that was totally unprovoked and up to that point, she had said she didn’t remember anything and we were telling her she just fell……not fell out the window. So, I said, “didn’t mean to do what?” She said, “push me out the window.” Of course, huge waste that I am, I burst into tears. I asked her what happened and she said they were play fighting and she was standing on the ledge and Gabe bumped her and out she went.
Number 1, I have no idea how valid that story is. She is ALWAYS trying to get her brother in trouble. Number 2, I was in a panic, but I’m pretty sure the first words out of Gabriel’s mouth were “Daddy, I didn’t mean to.” Number 3, Ria called to make sure Collin, Gabe’s friend that was also in the room, was ok and he immediately said “I didn’t see nuthin.” Today, Ria told Gabriel that Chaya was finally remembering falling out the window and his response was, “what did she say?”
Now then….you can understand why I ask for your prayers. I have no doubt in my mind that Gabriel would not do that on purpose, but I do know that he rarely thinks before he acts. I may never mention this story to him, but Chaya undoubtedly will. Pray for his honesty and not so much so I can know what happened, but I don’t want this to eat at him for the rest of his life and, trust me, I know what “big lies” can do when you hide them for a long time.
Enough bad stuff….I leave you with this:
Chaya has been saying, anytime we talk about what happened, “I fell, but Daddy saved me.” I just assumed she says this cuz Daddy was in the ambulance with her and with her in the CT scan room. So, I tell her, I didn’t save you honey, I just did what Daddy’s do. She said (which also sent me into tears), “no daddy, when I fell, you caught me.” You and I both know that’s not true, but I, for one, am POSITIVE Who’s hands were there to cushion her fall…..and she felt God’s hands catch her….and gives the credit to me. Makes me BOOHOO just typin it
. Our God is an awesome God!! I did tell her it wasn’t me, it was Jesus, to which she replied, “ok, yeah, Jesus.” LOL
I believe that’s the longest post ever to hit this blog…..I think…..Here’s the pics:

Early in the day

Still early...note the eye is closed

Where she slid down the steps

Later in the day--darker color, but open
There ya have it. Thank you, again, for your prayers!!
