Last night I went with the youth group to see David Crowder Band and Jeremy Camp in concert. Few words come to mind to sum it all up, but WOW…..great time! My very first Christian concert and that’s my idea of CHURCH! It was simply 3 hours of Praise and Worship, with press passes to make the whole experience even more unbelievable. Thanks to Jan (that’s YAWN to you Americans….Youth pastor at The Refuge) for including me in on this trip.
I have to be honest with ya….I’ve known about this concert for a few months and the entire time, I thought I was going to see some guy opening up for David Crowder. I thought I knew who Jeremy Camp was, but I had him mixed up with Jeremy Riddle…..Yes, I’m a moron! ANYWAY…..big mistake…..all fixed now. David Crowder Band opened for Jeremy Camp and that says nothing against DCB. They were awesome and we even interviewed David before he went on. I’ll have that video up when Jan is done chopping it up
. David did not disappoint!! I sometimes get in a rut where I listen to the same thing over and over and I rarely branch out to anything new. I’m a Mercy Me, Third Day, Casting Crowns kinda guy and I don’t listen to much else. I’m pretty sure I now have downloaded every song DCB or Jeremy Camp have ever written. They are just that good. David is the real deal, has a vocabulary that will blow your mind. They have a BLOG and you can follow them on Twitter. Get on that, will ya?
I was completely blown away by Jeremy Camp. Maybe because he’s was unknown to me, but really…..I’m not sure I’ve seen “The Real Deal” encapsulated in anyone better. Unknown to him, he now has a fan for life. It was unbelievably obvious that Jeremy wasn’t there for a concert. He was there to lead a bunch of people in Worshiping our God. It was truly a worship leader, in a big church where the ENTIRE congregation raises their hands and sings along……Not all of them English speaking people, but all united to praise ONE God, in ONE language. An awesome experience that I will not soon forget.
Jeremy also shared his testimony. I’m not gonna spill it all here, but you can GO HERE and check it out for yourself. An amazing story with awesome struggles the Lord has pulled Jeremy through. It was an honor for me to be in the same room with thousands of people with hearts pointed in the same direction.
I made a little video snipit of our trip below. There are many more pictures and you can check them out on the Flickr Page.
