Someone Is Watching
by Pastor T on Apr 9th in Our Life
Yesterday, me and the kids went to the BX (base exchange for ya non-military types) to pick up a few things. On the way out, the kids asked if they could get a fountain drink. I’m rarely one to turn down a cold Coke, so off we went.
We’re waiting in line and I turned around and noticed this lady GLARING at me. Ya know how you try to be all cool and play it off like ya didn’t notice. Yeah, well I tried that, thinking she’s staring at the menu at Taco Bell or something.
Still in line a few minutes later (yes, 10 minutes for 3 drinks) I notice her again. This time I make it a point to make eye contact. Sometimes I can scare away the stare by staring back. She didn’t budge and it was obvious, she was lookin at me. I ignored her, got our cups and headed over to the fountains to fill em up.
I turn around to round up the kiddies and head out and there she is. The words she spoke have stuck to me like glue and I remember them like they were just said to me. The conversation went like this:
Her: Hi Toby, my name is Tammy. (I’ve never seen this woman before in my life). I go to church with you and enjoy your singing every week.
Me: Well, nice to meet you Tammy. Thank you!
Her: I know you think I’m a stalker, but I really felt led to tell you something.
Me: UH OH.
Her: I have watched you on stage each week and while my focus is on God, I look to you to lead me. I’m not sure why and don’t take that wrong, but I was never sure why until this last Sunday.
Me: Uhhhhh ok?
Her: You always look like you want to reach out, like you’re about to explode. You look like you’re holding back. Maybe that’s why I look….Because I don’t want to miss when it happens. Sunday, I felt like it happened. The look on your face changed. Your voice was being heard on Sunday. You guys are usually drowned out by the girls, but not last Sunday. I just felt led to tell you that I was inspired by you Sunday and I prayed that it would be the beginning of a new beginning for you.
So yes, I’m a big WIMP and I stood in the food court with my kids and a stranger with tears in my eyes.
I’m not going to get into the struggle I have had with worship at my current church, but let’s just say I felt the Spirit was released last Sunday. I was positive that no one noticed, but me and the 2 people I told, but evidently I was wrong.
All of that to say this: Keep your eyes on Jesus, seek Him for direction and ACT when you get an answer. Do this, but not for just for you…..Do it because someone and maybe someone who has not accepted Him into their heart, is watching every move you make. People want someone to lead….They want someone to look up to…..They want to emulate someone……
Live Christ-like and when it’s you they’re looking to, it will lead to HIM.
