I have wasted too much time wondering what I'm going to say to a nameless person, but what is there to say really?
Nope, no Scriptural support for bunnies or eggs, but I would love for you to give any Scripture you choose to my 7 or 3 year old, explain it to them...then wait a few minutes and ask them to explain it back to you. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND! and the freakin bunny or eggs isn't going to hurt them.
Yes, there are consequences for every action, including the consequence for judging others.
If you're convinced that God is concerned with the "details" of my kids looking for eggs and watching bunnies, there are some issues you may need to deal with.
They're not worshiping the bunny OR the egg.
But by all means make a big deal about it and draw more attention to the bunny and egg you so despise. Doesn't make a bunch of sense to me, but I'm not here to judge you :-).

I am late into this discussion, but thought I would leave a comment anyway. No Easter bunnies or egss (resurrection or otherwise) at my house or in our church.(No Santa either.)

From what I have read, guess I'm in the minority here. But what concerns me is a principle that these comments seem to indicate. "As long as I am doing my Christian thing, I can do anything else as well and no one can judge me for it."

To compare Jesus healing the sick on the Sabbath (Saturday not Sunday) to Easter bunnies is like comparing apples with monkeys. Jesus was doing the work of the father in healing that man and teaching the Pharisees that he was the Lord of the Sabbath.

No such teaching to be found with bunnies and eggs on Easter.

I do agree that I need to keep my nose out of your business, but don't forget that there are consequences for every action of life.

God is a God of the details as well as the big things.

Just my thoughts

To me, it's like the Pharisees accusing Jesus of working on Sunday when he was healing the sick. Jesus was trying to teach God's word, not teach how to follow every law or rule down to the smallest detail! If the children know the real reason we're celebrating this special day, then the rest is all in fun. ..........I agree about the "new" name for the eggs. I think that we are way too caught up in the smallest of details rather than the big picture!

Just wanted to point out that we don't treat the Easter bunny like a Santa-type-thing. Not sure what the difference is, but my kids know that it's a guy in a bunny costume and they know the candy came from Mom and Dad. Didn't really think about that side of it making the post.

It has brought up some thought for me though.....Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ and Easter the re-birth of Christ. Not sure why it's ok for me that they think Santa is riding through the sky, but not thinking the Easter bunny exists....Hmmmmm.

Absolutely!! That's my main point....I think the restrictions and title replacements bring more attention to the "fantasy" side of it anyway. When I explain to my 3 yr old what Easter is all about, I can wait 2 minutes, go back and ask her again and we're back to bunnies and eggs. I'll let her have fun with while she can :-).

I've never understood the big deal that gets made about the fantasy side of things, as long as it's balanced by the reality of Christ. This goes for all the holidays, but especially Christmas and Easter of course.

Like Bill said, do what you want to with the fun bits, don't compromise on the truth, and don't judge others :)

People need to get a life! I can think of a whole lot more important things to concern myself with than whether it is "kosher" to talk about the Easter bunny or Santa Claus. Each family must do what it feels is right for itself.
