Where Do You Walk

by Pastor T on Dec 15th in Our Life

Hey, M.A.D Monday doesn’t necessarily HAVE to highlight an organization.  Today I’d like to focus on something we all could do to Make A Difference in our lives and the lives of others.  I’ve blogged about it before and I will blog about it again:  LIFE JOURNALING! How do I do that?  Grab a Bible, a pen and some paper; be organized with where ya wanna start or open the book and land wherever you land; read and relate what you read to your life and write it down.  Don’t have a Bible?  Go to a church and ask for one and I bet they will hook you up.  OR Go to one of the BAZILLION Bible reading sites and go from there.  Are you like me and don’t care much for writing?  Use the tool that I use. No pen, no paper.

Spend some time, every day, in God’s Word. It’s amazing the things He will reveal to you. I’ll get ya started with my journaling from today.

Today, I was reading in the Book of 1 John and picked a verse that stuck out to me. Today it was 1 John 1:5-10.

Hover your mouse over the verse and you should see a pop up of the entire verse.

Now, I just jot down what’s on my heart abou this passage.  Today it was this:

John doesn’t leave any wondering as to what he means in 5-10 and likewise, God does not leave much to the imagination when speaking of darkness and light. We either walk in the light, with Him or we walk in the darkness, without Him.  There is no in between.  We can talk about how awesome we are all day, but it’s that pride; it’s that swollen ego that will keep us out of the light.  Maybe we are decent people, but all the good we do won’t put us in the light either.  This reminds me of the “fake people” I see and have seen at church through out the years.  Every Sunday they stand next to the hand of the Lord, on a pedestal they put themselves on.  They walk out the door of the church and their lives are filled with darkness for the other 6 days of the week.   I’ve been there!  Wow, have I ever been there.  I spent a great deal of my life there!  Thank the Lord for John, so I can be constantly reminded that I’m not fooling anyone  but myself.  Amen!

That’s it folks!  Write a paragraph or write a novel…Just spend that time with God.  I’m pretty sure He deserves it.

Buzz it!

THis was a great idea.. I am going to pass it on to my brother who is struggling with getting into some kind of daily devotional. He can't seem to find something he can stick with, but he does like to journal, so this may work for him. I love to journal and I may adapt it into my Read the Bible in a year. When I am reading if some verse just pops out at me and really talks to me, I will journal that thought. I may even suggest this to others in my reading group.

Right on. I've been life journaling since April 2008 and it has led me to look at areas of my life I didn't even know about. Prior to life journaling I would occasionally read the Bible but it rarely happened and when I did read, I forgot what i read about only about 5 seconds after I close the book. With life journaling I remember what I read a little bit longer and it gets me involved with what I read. Excellent post and I urge anybody to give this a shot, it may just rock things up a little bit for you! Thanks.

Rock things up!!! Indeed! People don't think about it, but it's kind of like going back to school. We know we did better when we took notes. Same deal with the Bible except it's a much more important test :-) .
